Google Plus got a makeover this week. People logging in may see this now:
After 5 or 10 minutes of poking around, not a ton has changed. The goal was to bring communities and collections front and center.
My home stream is still very strange with lots of dogs in it. Some posts are new, some are old- I don’t know what to make of it. I guess it is because I am in a German Shepherd Community, although I have opted out of having the posts in my home stream…
Communities are still DOA. I have a community with 103,000 members in it now and it grows every day. Still, for a post to get more than 5 or 6 +1s is very rare.
I had grown a following of people who liked to see animated GIFs. Animated GIFs are hands down the most engaging thing on Google Plus. Most of my posts would get 100 – 1,500 +1s. In this update they took away auo-playing GIFs. Now GIFs are just a still image with an arrow on them.
I had big hopes for Google Plus, but at this point I’m not sure what it is.
If you are in love with Google+ feel free to drop me a line. If you have ideas on how people can make the most of the NEW Google+ you can write it up and put it on this website.
